Astronaut Annie returns in Group 3's inquiry lesson!
Before the reintroduction of Astronaut Annie, the teachers decided to get the students up and moving! They played a song with dance moves, and the students danced along with them. I've noticed that students love when they get a chance to listen to a catchy song or do a dance for a lesson.
Oh no! Astronaut Annie was hacked and lost her research so she needs the students to help her find it all. In order to do so, the teachers briefly went over the scientific method. They then put the students into groups and gave them each an investigator notebook. The students were given different clues for each of the outer planets. They worked in their groups to fill out their notebooks and figure out which planet they had. They were able to share their results with the class, which is always good for the students to hear how their classmates got to their own results.
We then found out that the hacker was Miss. P! This was very funny to both us and the students. It was a nice way to end Astronaut Annie's journey in the lesson.
Both of group 3's lessons were great! They took the feedback given after their direct instruction lesson and incorporated it into their inquiry lesson.
