Group 4 Inquiry Lesson

The last lesson us Mount students would be teaching to 4th grade has arrived!

Buzz Lightyear is lost on a planet and Star Command needs him finding him! In order for the students to do so, they were given telescopes and the scientific method was reviewed. The students were put into two groups and a planet was placed in the middle, but it was covered up. A teacher lifted the cover off, and the students were able to look at the plane with their telescope. The planet was then covered again and the students wrote down their observations. They did this a few times, once as a telescope on earth, then a telescope from space, and finally as a rover. To check their hypothesis, a student from each group was chosen to go to the board and scan a code that gave more information about the planet they thought they had.

In their groups, the students discussed what observation they found to be the most helpful. Then, one person from each group shared what they came up with to the whole class. To end the lesson, they wrote a letter to Star Command that included their hypothesis, 3 reasons why they believed that and a conclusion. They were also given a checklist with this!

Group 4 finished fieldwork off strong and the students had so much fun while doing so!
